The Amateur Motor Cycle Association (AMCA) is one of the oldest off-road motorcycle governing bodies in the world. Established in 1932 in the West Midlands it has played a key role in the growth and promotion of the sport in this country. Today it has over 200 affiliated clubs that cover most of the United Kingdom with approximately half of these motocross specific and the remainder split across several other off-road sporting ‘codes’ including trials (modern & classic), scrambles, supermoto, enduro, moto-duro and beach racing. AMCA caters for riders of all ages and abilities competing in the modern and classic versions of the sport who are well into their seventies (there’s more than you might imagine)! Each year the AMCA sanctions close to 1,000 across all disciplines. In addition it has comprehensive event infrastructure and equipment in place which it provides to its clubs as well as management, administration and financial support from its Headquarters in Cannock, Staffordshire. Having worked closely with communities for over 75 years the AMCA is well versed in the many issues associated with the sport at a local level including noise, access and insurance. Aims & Objectives The AMCA is an independent organisation dedicated to providing efficient management and control of off-road motorcycle sports for the benefit of riders whose primary interest is in the sport and not the reward. The AMCA does not have shareholders, any profits are ploughed back into the association to benefit it’s members. Voluntary work by the clubs in the running of events helps AMCA to keep entry and licence costs as low as possible. AMCA Committees: Main Board of Directors, consists of Chairman, Vice Chairman and a number of other Directors. This Board is concerned with the setting of strategy for the AMCA’s future development and the finances of the AMCA. The main Board have meetings three or four times a year or as required. Directors are elected by the member clubs to serve three years on the Board. Modern Motocross Committee. This committee generally meets 2 times a year and is concerned with the sporting side of the AMCA, but only in relation to modern motocross. The Agenda is compiled from items that come forward from motocross Groups, clubs or the AMCA office. The Modern Motocross Committee is open for all Motocross clubs to attend, one vote per club attending. The chair of the Motocross Committee is Mike Penn. Classic Scrambles – Fixtures Mtg and AGM, usually held in November representatives from the Classic Clubs meet to decide on a fixture list for the following year and discuss issues affecting their discipline. Motocross Championship Committe - The Motocross Championship committee consists of, Mike Penn, Nick Webster, Simon Lane, Colin Price and Jono Williams. The Championship committee is chaired by Steve Harvey (who will only vote in the event of a tie). External committees that the AMCA sit on: Land Access and Recreation Association (L.A.R.A.) The series takes place over six rounds at six different venues, over six different weekends within the year. The venues chosen are some of the best motocross circuits in the country. About the Woodbridge DMCC: As some people may or may not be aware the Woodbridge Club actually started life off as the Rendlesham and District club. During the early part of 1956 a number of enthusiastic motorcyclists from the local area would gather at Dave Williams workshop. The idea of forming a club finally happened in the September of that year with Dave Williams as Chairman and John Easty as Hon. Secretary. At the end of the first year the membership stood at 24 people headed by Dave Williams who constructed his own special trials bike. 1957 saw the Club hold a Sporting Trial at Mr Flemming’s sandpit at Eyke. The highlight of the year was the club’s Gymkhana in mid July and was 2 hours of non-stop fun and action including clowns and fire jumps presented by John Easty. In September some of the club members take part in the Gymkhana on Saxmundham Sports Field. By 1959 Motor Ball had been introduced but never really took off, but the club had begun to hold a number of different charity rallies including the Guy Hawkes run. At the end of the year that with great shock that John Easty stepped down from the club. Over the next couple of years the club began running more and more events including grass track meetings. During the early years the Club would hold a number of very successful dances to help to raise funds for the club. In the summer of ’59 the club ran two successful grass tracks one at Moat Farm and one at Foxborough Hall and held their first Yarmouth Run. In 1960 and again the club organised two Grass Track events, this time they were one at Bredfield and Foxborough Hall and through the kindness of our President, Major W.E.P Miller we ran the first Sidecar Grand National. The club continued to run Sporting Trails and although the club didn’t make a lot of money the riders always had a good time. The clubs name changed from the Rendlesham Club to Woodbridge DMCC in 1966 when the club held its first Scramble at the Blaxhall Pits circuit. The day even saw a man sat beside the track with the Doomsday Book to try and see if it was allowed to race motorcycles on a Sunday. In 1979 BBC TV visited Blaxhall to film programmes for ‘Sporting Types’. In 1981 the club purchased the land where the current car park is. In 1983 the name was official changed and the club was now known as Woodbridge & District MCC Ltd and this meant members of the clubs had to put themselves on the line and those 7 people were Jackie Whitehall, John Read, Geoff Cant, Wilf Harvey, John Fisher and Eileen and George Osborn. Without these people the club wouldn’t be in the same position today, and from that day on the Club has gone from strength to strength and run rounds of the British Championships and Qualifiers over the years. The Woodbridge Club is lucky enough to have its very own personal venue at Blaxhall near Wickham Market. The circuit is used as the home for Motocross, while also running several Trials events, while the club's Enduro events are held at different venues with the grateful support of local Farmers and Landowners that continually help and support the club.

EXGB - Electric Motocross & Balance Bike Racing

Electric Off-Road Bike events and home of the Revvi Cup, Electric Balance Bike Racing and the EXGP British Electric X Championship. EXGB was formed by Julie Coyne, Jeff Perrett and Paul Oughton who started running the Revvi Cup Electric Balance Bike Race events in the UK, with their other organisation Steel Hawk Motorcycle Club in 2021. The Revvi Cup now comes under the EXGB banner. All EXGB events run exclusively for Electric Dirt Bikes Bikes and Electric Balance Bikes and encompass Indoor, Outdoor, Cross Country events all catered specifically for this type of bike and accessible and enjoyable for riders from 3 years of age upwards. The EXGB British Indoor Electric X Championship takes place at the Wheeldon Off-Road Centre in Devon and SX Worx in Sheffield. The Electric Balance Bikes will race for separate titles at each Indoor event. Racing also takes place outdoors with the six-round EXGP British Electric X Championship culminating in the big one, the Electric Dirt Bike Festival at Greenfield Dirt Track.
